Ending On Thanks

The young woman pictured here belonged to our Church Youth once, together with her (then) future husband. Wherever in the world she was, she would call me up out of the blue: "And how is my Reverend?" I followed her transition from (her) old Africa to the new. I counselled her through trauma. And I married the two of them in our Church. Recently she died of kidney failure. Her last two Facebook entries (translated): "This morning I am thankful that I am carried through, all praise to Jesus. I think about the road, but God rules the road. My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are My ways. Fight to enter, keep your spirits up, and see what Jesus has in store!" Then finally: "I'm so thankful."
