Ancient Peoples

I stumbled upon the story of Olive Oatman this morning, a girl who was raised by the Mohave Indians in the mid 1800's, then "liberated": 10 Myths About Olive Oatman. It is not far-fetched to say that I was one of the last of my culture to be raised in a nearly completely "ancient" environment. Not only have such environments now retreated, but there is less cause for living in them. The story really resonated with me. I can understand how she "cried into her hands when she was delivered". Today we live an "uprooted" kind of life which no longer knows the passion of "ancient" peoples.
